Green Cup aims to reduce campus energy use

Students living in on-campus housing are shutting off lights, sharing fridges and unplugging their device chargers to win the WUSTL Green Cup. The Green Cup recognizes the South 40 residential college, North Side team and fraternity that reduces its energy use by the highest percentage during a four-week competition, which begins Wednesday, Feb. 1.

New lecture series focuses on climate change

Ralph J. Cicerone, PhD, president of the National Academy of Sciences, presents the most current data on climate change during a Jan. 23 talk at WUSTL. I-CARES and the Tyson Research Center sponsored this talk, the first in a series on climate change designed to engage the WUSTL community in an ongoing conversation.

WUSTL ushers in Lunar New Year

WUSTL ushered in the Lunar New Year with a fireworks show Jan. 22 on Mudd Field. The Lunar New Year — observed this year on Jan. 23 — is one of the most important traditional Asian holidays. The celebration continues this weekend with two high-spirited performances at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 and 28 in Edison Theatre.

Concert features talents of faculty, staff, students

A Jan. 14 winter concert showcased the musical talents of School of Medicine faculty, staff, residents and students. The event, held in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine, was sponsored by the Department of Pathology and Immunology and the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s Arts + Healthcare Program.

WUSTL has been ranked No. 8 in a recent “Green Metric” ranking of world universities by the University of Indonesia. Results are based on information provided by universities on energy efficiency, water usage, waste management, transportation and more.

Basketball teams host Youth Day Sunday, Jan. 29

The basketball teams will host Youth Day Sunday, Jan. 29.
Admission to the doubleheader vs. Emory University is free to all youth campers, families and friends. There will be youth-oriented events throughout the games, including a drawing for a camp scholarship for a girl and a boy at half-times. The men’s game starts at noon, with the women’s game to follow at 2 p.m.
