Macias to conclude 25-year tenure as chief academic officer

Edward S. Macias, PhD, who has served as WUSTL’s chief academic officer for the past 25 years, has announced that he will step down from his position as provost and executive vice chancellor June 30, 2013.

25th anniversary celebration??

?First-grader Ruby Bridges became a civil rights icon as she integrated an all-white school in 1960. She will share her powerful story at the Ervin Scholars’ 25th anniversary keynote event Friday, Sept. 14, in Graham Chapel.

VIDEO: Wes Moore discusses book with First-Year Reading Program essay winners???

Wes Moore visited campus Sept. 4 and talked with groups of students and faculty before giving an Assembly Series address. His book, The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates, is the 2012-13 selection for the First-Year Reading Program. Winners of the program’s essay contest had an opportunity to sit down with the author at Whittemore House.

Kemper Art Museum presents Notations: Contemporary Drawing as Idea and Process, an exhibition of more than 60 Minimalist, Conceptual and Post-Minimalist works by 39 artists, dating from the late 1950s to today. The exhibit highlights the renowned collection of Sally and Wynn Kramarsky.

McLeod’s Way, a landscaped gathering place along the path from the Forsyth Underpass to the Clock Tower on the South 40, will be dedicated Saturday, Sept. 15, in memory of Jim McLeod, WUSTL’s beloved vice chancellor for students and dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, who died in 2011.
