Design with the Other 90%: CITIES exhibit expands definitions of ‘good design’

Solar lanterns. Bicycle-powered cell phone chargers. A personal water-purifier the size of a large straw. Today, some of the world’s most creative, challenging and sophisticated design is found not in museums or showrooms, but in the poor, makeshift urban settlements that collectively house nearly a billion people. This fall, the Kemper Art Museum will present Design with the Other 90%: CITIES.

Professional development program welcomes 25 staff to its 2012-13 class

Twenty-five WUSTL middle- and senior-level managers have been named to the 2012-13 Professional Leadership Academy & Network (PLAN). Olin Library hosts fall Twitter series

Washington University Libraries staff members are offering a series of free workshops throughout the fall semester to help introduce students, faculty and staff to Twitter. Topics range from Twitter 101, an introductory class, to more advanced workshops on specific uses of the popular social media platform.

Volleyball opens season with 10-match homestand

The volleyball team plays Fontbonne and William Woods universities in a dual-match season opener beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, in the Field House. WUSTL then hosts Cornell College, DePauw University, Dominican University and Eureka College for the five-team Labor Day Classic Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and 2.
