National Hall of Fame tabs Fahey for induction

Women’s basketball coach Nancy Fahey, who has guided the Bears for 25 seasons, has been chosen for induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Fahey is the first NCAA Division III player or coach to be chosen for such an honor. Besides Fahey, the 2012 class includes Nikki McCray, Pam McGee, Inge Nissen, Robin Roberts and Dawn Staley.

Alzheimer’s detectable 20 years before dementia

Inherited forms of Alzheimer’s disease may be detectable as many as 20 years before problems with memory and thinking develop, School of Medicine scientists reported July 20 at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease in Paris.

Unique volcanic complex discovered on the Moon

Analysis of new images of a curious “hot spot” on the far side of the Moon reveal it to be a small volcanic province created by the upwelling of silicic magma. The research, led by Bradley Jolliff, PhD, research professor in Earth & Planetary Sciences in Arts & Sciences, has just been published in Nature Geoscience.

The School of Law is offering a Washington, D.C.,-area intellectual property field placement opportunity for students pursuing a career focused on the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications. Men’s basketball coach Mark Edwards was named to the CollegeInsider.com Top 25 Non-Division I Head Coaches list. In 30 seasons, Edwards has compiled a 542-251 (.683) overall record, including a school-record 27 consecutive winning seasons.
