Drugs reduce need for mastectomies

In the first large trial of its kind in the United States, researchers at the School of Medicine have shown that estrogen-lowering drugs can shrink tumors and reduce mastectomy rates for patients with stage 2 or 3 breast cancer. The results of the study appeared online yesterday in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. FULL STORY

Executive compensation formula developed by Olin researchers

Olin Business School researchers Radhakrishnan Gopalan, PhD, Todd Milbourn, PhD, and Anjan Thakor, PhD, developed a formula that businesses can use to align an executive’s compensation with the strategic needs of the company. The research won the trio the Olin Award and a $10,000 prize, given annually to “faculty research with the greatest potential to advance business.” FULL STORY
