Intergalactic Nemesis to invade Edison 

A comic book? A radio play? A conquering sludge monster from outer space? Yes! The Intergalactic Nemesis: Live-Action Graphic Novel is all that and more. Intrepid reporter Molly Sloan and friends race against time to save humanity from impending invasion. The resistance begins at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, for the Edison Ovations Series.

Girls with family history of breast disease should avoid alcohol

A School of Medicine study led by Graham A. Colditz, MD, PhD, shows that adolescent girls with a family history of breast disease – either cancer or the benign lesions that can become cancer – have a higher risk of developing benign breast disease as young women than other girls. And unlike girls without a family history, this already elevated risk rises with increasing alcohol consumption.

McDonnell Scholars to present cultures from around the world at Saint Louis Science Center

Graduate and professional students within the McDonnell International Scholars Academy will be sharing their respective cultures with the general public in an interactive fair at the Saint Louis Science Center Saturday, Nov. 19, in the center’s May Hall on the ground floor. Free and open to the public, the hands-on learning fair is suitable for children, teens and families.

The School of Law is hosting a screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary Made In India at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom of Anheuser-Busch Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Women’s soccer advances in NCAA Div. III tournament

Freshmen Lillie Toaspern and Anna Zambricki each scored to lead the No. 12 women’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Div. III championship tournament Nov. 13. WUSTL tied a school record with its 17th win of the season, and takes on the College of St. Benedict in the sectional semifinal Friday, Nov. 18, at a site to be determined.
