Health open enrollment begins next Tuesday

The annual health open enrollment period for the health/dental or dental-only plans, the health- and child-care flex spending plans, the Health Savings Account and the Retirement Medical Savings Account will be from Nov. 1-30. Enrollments and changes to these plans made during the open enrollment period will be effective Jan. 1, 2012.

A cold, wet day couldn’t keep Henry S. Webber, executive vice chancellor for administration, from riding his bicycle as part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony dedicating the new bike path through the Danforth Campus Oct. 19. The ribbon-cutting event was part of Campus Sustainability Week.

Legendary guitarist Towner plays Jazz at Holmes

Legendary guitarist Ralph Towner will present an evening of both standards and original music for the Jazz at Holmes Series at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. In addition, Towner will take part in a symposium exploring both his work and the music of other ECM Records artists at 4:30 p.m. today in Graham Chapel.

Litigation and legislative reforms have achieved formal rights to equal treatment for women in the workplace. But women continue to perform disproportionate amounts of caregiving in the home, to suffer economic penalties for childbearing and to face discrimination on account of motherhood, says Deborah Dinner, JD, associate professor of law.

Men’s soccer improves to 13-1-1

Sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Jebson posted a pair of shutouts as the No. 8 men’s soccer team improved its overall record to 13-1-1 with a win and a tie last week. Jebson made three saves in a 3-0 victory at home over Illinois Wesleyan University Oct. 19, and followed that up with eight saves in a 0-0 double overtime draw at No. 7 Loras College Oct. 23.
