Astrophysicists spot pulsed radiation from Crab Nebula that wasn’t supposed to be there

The VERITAS array of telescopes has detected pulsed gamma rays from the pulsar at the heart of the Crab Nebula that have energies far higher than the common theoretical models can explain. The finding is one of the most exciting in the telescope’s history, according to consortium members at WUSTL.

Studies examine diet’s role in prostate cancer

The typical American diet includes nearly twice the recommended daily allowance for protein, and now a team of nutrition researchers, including Luigi Fontana, MD, PhD, and urologic surgeons at the School of Medicine, is conducting two studies to investigate a potential link between cancer and excess protein.

WUSTLAlerts, the emergency notification system, will be tested at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. The test will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or some other emergency is occurring at that time.
