Karam named head of radiation oncology

Sana D. Karam, MD, PhD, widely known for cutting-edge cancer research, has been named the James S. McDonnell Professor of Radiation Oncology and head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the School of Medicine.

Parvulescu wins grant from European Union

Anca Parvulescu, the Liselotte Dieckmann Professor in Comparative Literature in Arts & Sciences, will serve as principal investigator for a $1.2 million grant exploring the history of comparatism and the origins of the comparative method.

Dates for fall Workday Student transition activities set

The university will begin the transition to Workday Student, which replaces most student information systems, this fall. A variety of training sessions and other support will be available for faculty, staff and students.

Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, a clinical epidemiologist at the School of Medicine, has been named to the inaugural Time100 Health, a new annual list of 100 individuals who have most influenced global health. Al-Aly has led studies examining long-term health effects on people who have had COVID-19.

Jennifer Heemstra was installed as the Charles Allen Thomas Professor in Chemistry in Arts & Sciences during a ceremony last month. Her lab is focused on harnessing the capabilities of proteins and nucleic acids to address unmet needs in biomedicine and the environment.
