Anne Fagan, an internationally recognized expert on fluid biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease and a professor of neurology at the School of Medicine, has been named the 2023 recipient of the Khalid Iqbal Lifetime Achievement Award by the Alzheimer’s Association.

Notables

Carl Phillips, a professor of English in Arts & Sciences, will receive the 2023 Tradition of Literary Excellence Award on Sunday, Nov. 5, from the University City Municipal Commission on Arts & Letters. Phillips is the author of 16 books of poetry and won a 2023 Pulitzer Prize.

Dan Shea, professor emeritus of English, 86

Dan Shea, a professor emeritus of English in Arts & Sciences, died Oct. 23 while in hospice care at his home in the Central West End. He was 86. Shea was a specialist in early American literature as well as an accomplished stage actor.
