Villalongo and Ramani to discuss ‘Printing Black America’

Artist William Villalongo and data scientist Shraddha Ramani will discuss their ongoing collaboration, “Printing Black America: W.E.B. Du Bois’s Data Portraits in the 21st Century,” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Steinberg Hall Auditorium. As the Sam Fox School’s 2023-24 Arthur and Sheila Prensky Island Press Visiting Artists, the pair will create new St. Louis-based works for the series.

Public Health at WashU conference

The two-day Public Health at WashU annual conference will focus on strengthening public health through community engagement and collaboration across disciplines. The first day will take place in Graham Chapel and the second day will take place at the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the Medical Campus.

WashU employees encouraged to support United Way campaign

Support the 2023 United Way campaign through donations and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers can assemble kits of reading materials and bags of dental hygiene products Tuesday, Oct. 24, on the Danforth Campus and Thursday, Oct. 26, on the Medical Campus. Staff and faculty also can volunteer on their own or organize a volunteer project with their department or division.

‘Domesticated Pulp’ exhibit on Archie, Comics Code continues

Join University Libraries for an exhibit highlighting materials from the Archie collection alongside examples of comics that were forced to adhere to the Comics Code Authority’s Seal of Approval, a set of guidelines used to judge comics as appropriate for all ages. The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 17 in Olin Library, Level 1.
