Who Knew WashU?

Question: The film “Oppenheimer” chronicles the career of the American theoretical physicist who directed the Manhattan Project during World War II. Several scientists from the atomic research program at Los Alamos National Laboratory joined WashU after the war. Where are their portraits displayed?

Answer: D) Wrighton Hall. Then-Chancellor Arthur Holly Compton, a physicist, worked to build WashU as a research institution, recruiting the so-called “Los Alamos Six” to join Arts & Sciences.

Congrats to this week’s winner, Emily Cohen-Shikora, a senior lecturer in Arts & Sciences, who will receive an “I Knew WashU” prize!
