December recognition: student uses technology for social good

David Frankel, who is studying computer science at the McKelvey School of Engineering and women, gender and sexuality studies in Arts & Sciences, is leveraging his studies to create technology that serves the social good. Frankel will be among the 360 students who will participate in the December degree candidate recognition ceremony Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Athletic Complex.

Christopher Stark, associate professor of music; Cole Reyes, an Arts & Sciences alumnus; and Joseph Mosby, a student composer, will have a virtual discussion on the work of expressing yourself through music. Mosby and Reyes also will perform. The event is part of the “Power of Arts & Sciences” week.

Sociologists Caitlyn Collins and Zakiya Luna, both in Arts & Sciences, will hold a virtual discussion on the causes and consequences of social inequality and policies that impact motherhood. The event is also part of the “Power of Arts & Sciences” week.

Join the Becker Medical Library’s Archives and Rare Books Division at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, for a virtual presentation of its annual display of rare anatomical texts. The event will highlight medical works dating from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
