St. Louis International Film Festival screenings begin Friday

Secret military experiments. A television star turned health-care activist. The yearslong battle to remove a Confederate statue in New Orleans. This month, the Film & Media Studies program in Arts & Sciences will screen more than 20 films as part of the 2021 St. Louis International Film Festival. Screenings generally will be in Brown Hall, Room 100.

Assembly Series: Publishing on race, medicine and science

The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity will present this virtual panel in partnership with Northwestern University. The direction of race-focused work in the areas of science and medical research will be discussed. The moderator is Holden Thorp, the Rita Levi-Montalcini Distinguished University Professor.

TRIO Student Support Services will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of panel discussions in Holmes Lounge, Ridgley Hall. The celebration will kick off with a first-generation panel and close with a TRIO alumni panel.

The Center for the Humanities in Arts & Sciences welcomes Natalia Aleksiun, professor at the University of Florida, for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Lecture. The virtual event will explore the work of Jewish physicians in the face of the Holocaust and beyond.
