The Black Rep launches its 45th season with a new production of “Sweat,” Lynn Nottage’s 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, in WashU’s Edison Theatre through Sept. 26. In Reading, Pa., three old friends spend their days on the factory floor and nights at the local bar. But as layoffs, recession and union-busting management threaten their jobs, the town’s racial and economic fault lines grow strained. The director is Black Rep founder Ron Himes, who is also the Henry E. Hampton Jr. Artist-in-Residence in Arts & Sciences.
