Tune in to Department of Music’s ‘Musical Lunch Box’

Six students from the Department of Music in Arts & Sciences will perform works by Beethoven, Debussy, Chopin, Schumann and Liszt at noon Friday, Feb. 26, as part of the department’s new “Musical Lunch Box” series. Intended to simulate the live concert experience, the performance will be filmed in a single take from the 560 Music Center’s E. Desmond Lee stage. The series will continue with short recitals at noon on Fridays throughout the semester.

Discussion on American contempt toward Black women

The Brown School will host a discussion on Black women’s experiences with contempt in America. WashU’s Kenly Brown, Adrienne Davis, Matifadza Hlatshwayo, MD, and Hedy Lee will lend their insights to the discussion. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity.

Immigration policies under the Biden administration

Katie Meyer of the School of Law and Jaqueline Cruz Arroyo of the Migrant & Immigrant Community Action Project will address immigration policy changes and their impact on various populations. The Institute for Public Health’s Center for Human Rights, Gender and Migration and the Immigration Law Society student group are hosts.

Mary McKay, dean of the Brown School, will moderate a conversation between government leaders and physicians on the successes, challenges and opportunities of the COVID-19 vaccine.

‘Spy and Suspense’: Taiwanese-language film festival

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures in Arts & Sciences has partnered with the U.K.-based festival “Taiwan’s Lost Commercial Cinema” to present a series of film screenings through Saturday, Feb. 27. The films will highlight the Taiwanese experience of the 1960s.
