Who Knew WashU?

Amanda Gorman is the first person to be named a National Youth Poet Laureate and last weekend became the first poet to speak at the Super Bowl. How many U.S. poet laureates have been affiliated with WashU?

Answer: C) There have been four poet laureates associated with the university: Louise Glück, Howard Nemerov, William Jay Smith and Mona Van Duyn. Van Duyn was the first woman appointed a U.S. poet laureate, serving in 1992-93.
