Department of Music to virtually showcase piano recital

The Department of Music in Arts & Sciences will present works by Beethoven, Chopin, Granados and Rachmaninoff on Facebook beginning at noon Friday, Nov. 20. The performances, by students in the piano division, were filmed in one take on the 560 Music Center’s E. Desmond Lee stage, simulating a live concert experience.

‘Border Dispatches’ lecture

Noon Thursday, Nov. 19

Ersela Kripa and Stephen Mueller, partners in the award-winning architecture firm Agency, will discuss a series of reports titled “Border Dispatches,” an on-the-ground perspective from the southern border. This talk is part of the Nation Space lecture series, held in conjunction with senior lecturer Michael Allen’s seminar “Borders, Boundaries.”

STL Reentry Collective panel discussion

5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19

Student group Interrogating Incarceration will host a panel discussion with the STL Reentry Collective and formerly incarcerated people. The first half of the panel will consist of a Q&A, and the other half will focus on new volunteer positions with the STL Reentry Collective.

‘Mapping Social Justice’

10 a.m. – Noon Friday, Nov. 20

The Data Users Group welcomes a panel to examine social inequities in our society with a spatial lens. Speakers will address housing, voting, racial violence and ethical land use. This event is a part of Geography Awareness Week.

‘Who Decides Who You Are?’ conversation

Noon–1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20

The School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion presents a panel discussion in honor of Trans Remembrance Day. Community activists will come together to process how stories have been transformed through the work of community members.

‘She Leads’ conference to focus on women’s impact

Thursday, Dec. 3 – Friday, Dec. 4

The “She Leads” two-day conference features speakers focused on women’s impact and education. WashU alumna Morgan DeBaun will give the opening keynote, and Emmy award-winning sports journalist Jemele Hill will close the event. The conference also features panels, networking opportunities and more. Early-bird registration ends Friday, Nov. 20.

Join the Becker Medical Library’s Archives and Rare Books Division at 2 p.m. Dec. 4 for a virtual presentation of its annual display of rare anatomical texts. The event will highlight Govard Bidloo’s “Ontleding des menschelyken lichaams” and Siegfried Albinus’ “Tabluae sceleti et musculorum corporis humani,” among others.
