‘We built a diverse academic department in five years. Here’s how.’

Adia Harvey Wingfield, of Arts & Sciences, published an article in the Harvard Business Review explaining how the university has built “one of the more racially diverse departments in academia today,” the Department of Sociology.

Notables

Bruce Backus, assistant vice chancellor for environmental health and safety at the university, received a lifetime achievement award from the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association. This was his second lifetime achievement award in less than a month.

Kimberly Norwood at the School of Law has been named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s “Most Influential Business Women” class of 2020. Honorees also are recognized for the impact they have in their industries, through various nonprofits and in their communities.
