New research from the Race and Opportunity Lab in the Brown School’s Center for Social Development sheds light on youths’ reactions to social media videos showing violence in their communities.

‘Ring Their Names’ virtual vigil scheduled Friday

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion invites WashU students, staff and faculty to come together at 11:30 a.m. today for “Ring Their Names,” a virtual vigil honoring the lives of George Floyd and other black men, women and trans people who recently have been killed. 

Maffly-Kipp named interim dean of Graduate School

Laurie Maffly-Kipp, the Archer Alexander Distinguished Professor in the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics, has been appointed interim dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for graduate education, effective July 1.

Students, employees benefit from crisis response fund

Thanks to generous support from alumni and friends, the WashU Crisis Response Fund was able to support students and employees during the pandemic.

$5 million for research into neglected tropical diseases

Researchers at the School of Medicine have received two grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling more than $5 million to study two types of parasitic worm infection that cause devastating illness in millions of people worldwide.

Medical centers across the U.S. are participating in a fitness program called #FitForTheFrontLine. The national fitness challenge, which ends June 14, encourages Americans to get fit and raise funds to support our nation’s health-care heroes, including those at the School of Medicine and BJC HealthCare.
