Musical Postcards: ‘Love is Here to Stay’

Todd Decker and Kelly Daniel-Decker launched the Department of Music in Arts & Sciences’ new “Musical Postcards” video series. The series helps the department maintain its commitment to public performance during a time of social distancing.

Environmental analysis major launched

Arts & Sciences now offers a major in environmental analysis though the Environmental Studies program. It’s a response to the global demand for environmental experts who can think critically, communicate clearly and solve problems in collaboration with their communities.

Breast milk may help prevent sepsis in preemies

Researchers have found — in newborn mice — that a component of breast milk may help protect premature babies from developing life-threatening sepsis. The findings are published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Class explores intersection of law, race and design

Law and graphic design. Two disciplines one might not think are related. But a new class at the university is using concepts from each to help students wrestle with the challenges of race, place and inequality.

The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement wants to update Washington University in St. Louis students and families about how students are to be counted in the 2020 U.S. census in light of  COVID-19. 

Know how to sew? Here’s a way to help

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended the use of cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Members of the university community are invited to help sew masks that will be made available in the community for nonmedical use.
