Graduate students shift to defending theses online

Alaric D’Souza, a Medical Scientist Training Program student, successfully defended his thesis March 30 — but not the way he expected. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, he and other graduate students are taking the final step to earning their PhDs online.

$1.2M grant to study Central American lizards

A research team led by biologist Jonathan Losos, the William H. Danforth Distinguished Professor in Arts & Sciences, was awarded $1.2 million for a CRISPR-based gene editing study of Central American lizards.

Pagliarini named BJC investigator

Dave Pagliarini, an expert in the so-called “powerhouses of the cell,” has been named a BJC Investigator and will join the Department of Cell Biology & Physiology at the School of Medicine, effective May 1.
