A forthcoming Management Science paper from Olin Business School researchers draws a direct connection between language translation driven by artificial intelligence and an increase in international trade. The paper analyzes data from eBay.

Creative workshops help kids relieve stress with art

For the past year, the School of Medicine’s Anne Glowinski, MD, has partnered with St. Louis artist Adrienne Outlaw to create PRESENT, a public artwork program that combines mindfulness and artmaking as an expressive coping tool.

New trees offer beauty and biodiversity

The first wave of new trees has been planted on the east end of campus, and many more are on the way by next spring. Landscape designer Michael Vergason led the project, in consultation with St. Louis-based Arbolope Studio. This video captures the process.

Notables

Eric Hsu, a senior majoring in biology in Arts & Sciences, has been awarded the 2019 Spector Prize. The prize recognizes academic excellence and outstanding undergraduate achievement in research.

Arts & Sciences recognized six outstanding alumni during its 2019 Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner, held in April. Barbara Schaps Thomas, AB ’76, the retired senior vice president and chief financial officer for HBO Sports, received the Dean’s Medal.
