Fuel cell powers underwater vehicles, drones

A team at the McKelvey School of Engineering has developed a high-powered fuel cell that operates at double the voltage of today’s commercial fuel cells. It could power underwater vehicles, drones and, eventually, electric aircraft at a significantly lower cost.

University to join nationwide sexual assault survey

The university once again will participate in a comprehensive survey about sexual assault on college campuses, to be conducted by the Association of American Universities this spring.

For adult scoliosis, surgery not only option

A School of Medicine-led study found that surgery for adults with scoliosis usually helped. But it also found the most important factor in deciding whether to operate was the extent of a patient’s disability and its interference with daily life.

Woodard named Wilson Professor of Radiology

Pamela K. Woodard, MD, a professor of radiology recognized for her expertise in cardiothoracic radiology, has been named the inaugural Hugh Monroe Wilson Professor of Radiology at the School of Medicine.

Barton Hamilton has been named the first director of Olin Business School’s new Family Business Center, a full-fledged research center dedicated to the issues surrounding family-owned businesses.

Patrick White, MD, assistant professor of medicine, has been named director of the newly formed Division of Palliative Medicine at the School of Medicine. Victoria J. Fraser, MD, head of the Department of Medicine, announced the appointment.
