New genetic clues to early-onset form of dementia
An international team of researchers, led by the School of Medicine, has found that a lone mutation in a single gene that causes an inherited form of frontotemporal dementia makes it harder for neurons in the brain to communicate with one another, leading to neurodegeneration.

 Pioneering hematologist J. Evan Sadler, MD, PhD, a world-renowned expert in the study and treatment of blood clotting disorders and director of the Division of Hematology at the School of Medicine, died Dec. 13 at his home in Clayton, Mo., following a brief illness. He was 67.
