‘The Curren(t)cy of Frankenstein’

Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” is a prescient guidebook to the moral and ethical dilemmas of 20th- and 21st-century medicine. On Sept. 28-30, the School of Medicine and the College of Arts & Sciences will present a three-day forum exploring Shelley’s novel through the lens of contemporary medical practice.

In “Persistence of Memory,” choreographer Ting-Ting Chang explores the convergence of dance and painting through works inspired by the art of Salvador Dali and the writings of Sigmund Freud. Tickets are required for this event in Mallinckrodt Center, Edison Theatre.

“Making a Monster,” an exhibit of rare books, shines a light on the intellectual forces that shaped Frankenstein, from his childhood through his university days. The exhibit is on view through Jan. 22 in the Becker Library’s Glaser Gallery, 7th floor. It is free and open to the public.
