Many members of the university’s Class of 2022 arrived on the South 40 Aug. 23 armed with mini-fridges, duvet covers and big hopes for their new home. In addition to their 1,800 fellow students, the class also will get to know a number of faculty fellows.

Obituaries
J. Russell Little, MD, professor emeritus of medicine, died Aug. 18 in St. Louis following a long illness. He was 87. Little was on the faculty at the School of Medicine from 1964 to 2005.

Eugene Rubin, MD, PhD, and Charles F. Zorumski, MD, both at the School of Medicine, have been blogging for Psychology Today for several years. The two are celebrating their 1 millionth hit for their blog, “Demystifying Psychiatry,” which deals with research and issues in psychiatry, attempting to make them understandable and relevant.

Christopher Stark, assistant professor of music in Arts & Sciences, has won a 2018 General Composer Commission from the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition at Brigham Young University.

Meredith Jackrel, assistant professor of chemistry in Arts & Sciences, received a five-year, $1.9 million National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant for her project “Safeguards of the Proteome: Elucidating the Roles of Protein Disaggregases.”
