The biennial research competition for early-career architects is organized by the Sam Fox School, in concert with AIA St. Louis. Registration opens Aug. 15; proposals are due Nov 1.

Obituaries
 Zishan (Simoner) Zhao, a rising junior in Arts & Sciences, died June 2 from injuries after being hit by a car while attempting to cross a street in Wilmington, N.C. He was 19. Zhao, who was from Shenzhen, China, was majoring in biochemistry.

Andrea Friedman, of Arts & Sciences, writes a column in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reflecting on the behavior and attitude of former President Bill Clinton and former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens and the broader systems that allowed their actions.

Alex Meshik, research professor in physics in Arts & Sciences, received a $1.1 million grant from NASA in support of a project titled “Analyses and interpretations of noble gases delivered by Genesis and Stardust missions – Phase 2.”
