Link between two key Alzheimer’s proteins explained

Researchers at the School of Medicine are getting a clearer picture of the connection between tau and amyloid beta, the two proteins at the heart of Alzheimer’s disease. Their insights may lead to new treatments.

Insolvency, not liquidity, is the problem

Finance expert Anjan Thakor, of Olin Business School, reviewed scholarship in the wake of the 2007-09 financial crisis. He found that insolvency was the major concern, not liquidity, and that bank regulations aren’t on target to prevent a repeat.

Global warming focus of 2018 McDonnell lecture

S. George Philander, one of the world’s leading experts on climate and the interactions between the ocean and atmosphere, will deliver two talks this week, March 28 and 29, sponsored by the university’s McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences.

Damena Agonafer, of the School of Engineering & Applied Science, has developed a unique evaporative cooling system to remediate heat in electronic systems, such as vehicles and data centers. His work on the system, which uses a membrane with microscopic pillars, is published in the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science.
