NCI director to visit Med Campus next week

Norman E. “Ned” Sharpless, MD, director of the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), will visit the Medical Campus on Tuesday, Feb. 27. He will speak at the Bursky Center symposium and participate in a town hall.

K-12 teachers celebrate science at Darwin Day

More than 50 educators from the St. Louis region attended the Institute for School Partnership’s annual Darwin Day celebration this month, which included a Darwin selfie station. The program helps K-12 teachers gain skills in teaching evolution.

Assembly Series speaker to focus on LGBTQ rights

James Esseks, director of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender & HIV Project for the ACLU, will be here next week. Esseks will deliver the keynote, co-sponsored by the Assembly Series, at the Midwest LGBTQ Rights Conference on Thursday, March 1.

The late evangelical preacher Billy Graham’s advice — never spend time alone with a woman other than your wife — has roots in the 1950s, but it still has influence today, said R. Marie Griffith, director of the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics.
