Major Alzheimer’s study aims to predict who will develop disease

A long-term study of adult children of Alzheimer’s patients — led by the School of Medicine — aims to define who is likely to develop the disease and when. A $10.3 million grant renewal from the National Institutes of Health extends the study five years.

Program puts a face on poverty, homelessness

A Gephardt Institute program that helps first-year students understand the struggles of people in poverty took on a broader role this fall. Working with Brown School faculty and students, Lu Oros helped adapt the content for a program for local judges.

Leonard Jarett, former director of laboratory medicine, 81

Leonard Jarett photoLeonard Jarett, MD, the first director of the Division of Laboratory Medicine in the departments of medicine and pathology at the School of Medicine, died Jan. 13 in Pennsylvania, where he lived. He was 81.

Kyle Williams, assistant director of student conduct and community standards at Washington University, will receive the 2018 Otterbein University Diversity Award on Feb. 9 in Westerville, Ohio.
