Bruchas named Mallinckrodt Professor of Anesthesiology

Neuroscientist Michael R. Bruchas has been installed as the Henry Elliot Mallinckrodt Professor of Anesthesiology at the School of Medicine. His research is helping clarify the neural foundation of behaviors such as anxiety and depression.

New orthopedic clinic opens

Washington University Orthopedics has opened a new clinic at Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon, Mo. Physicians at the new location will offer diagnosis and treatment for general orthopedics, with a focus on pediatric patients.

woman jumping ropeQuestion: In 2013, WashU student (now engineering graduate) Molly Harrison performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Which activity did she showcase during the parade?
Answer: D) Harrison got interested in competitive rope skipping in the fourth grade and joined a team. In 2013, she was invited, for the second time, to perform a routine in the parade along with dozens of other jumpers from around the country.
Congrats to this week’s winner, Karla Hunt, who works in the School of Medicine and will receive an “I Knew WashU” luggage tag!
