Large declines seen in teen substance abuse, delinquency

Survey data indicate that in recent years, teens have become far less likely to abuse alcohol, nicotine and illicit drugs, according to School of Medicine researchers. Teens also are less likely to engage in such behaviors as fighting and stealing.

Cells’ memory could hold clues to cancer’s spread

Mechanical engineer Amit Pathak found that cells remember the properties they had in their first environment for days after they move, a process called mechanical memory. The insight could offer clues to how cancer spreads in the body.
