Graduate student explores slavery in ‘The Half Beneath’

Brandon Robert Wilson, a Chancellor’s Fellow and PhD student in Arts & Sciences, recently published a book, “The Half Beneath” (TouchPointPress). The Riverfront Times reviewed the work, which explores the life of a slave, drawing from Wilson’s great-great-grandfather’s experience.

Derek Hoeferlin, associate professor of architecture in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, along with research assistants Jess Vanecek and Rob Birch, has won first prize in the inaugural Designing Resilience in Asia International Open Competition.

Christopher A. Maher, an assistant professor of medicine at the School of Medicine, received an American Cancer Society Research Scholar Award, which provides a $792,000 grant, to support his work into understanding how colon cancer spreads.
