Antibody helps detect protein implicated in Alzheimer’s

A team led by School of Medicine scientists has found a way to measure tau levels in the blood. Damaging tangles of the protein tau dot the brains of people with Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.

‘Shakespeare at Olin’ event on Mudd Field Sunday

The university will celebrate legendary poet and playwright William Shakespeare’s 453rd birthday with a special event on campus Sunday, April 23, featuring performances of some of the Bard’s most famous works. Olin Business School is hosting the event.

Great Artists Series welcomes Yefim Bronfman

Internationally acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman will perform music of Béla Bartók, Robert Schumann, Claude Debussy and Igor Stravinsky on Sunday, April 23, as part of the university’s inaugural Great Artists Series.

Gyo Obata, now one of the world’s leading architects, shares in this video about how he found a welcoming place to learn at Washington University during World War II, when his Japanese-American family was sent to an internment camp in California.

Question: How many buildings certified as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum has Washington University built?
Answer: C) Two, the Lofts and Hillman Hall (pictured). Some of Hillman’s features are a rain garden, a green roof, native plants and highly efficient heating and cooling systems. Overall, the university has 21 LEED-certified projects.
