The St. Louis American Foundation will honor the university’s Andwele Jolly, of the School of Medicine, and Frank Wilson, of the Joint Undergraduate Engineering Program, at its seventh annual Salute to Young Leaders Awards this evening.

Who Knew WashU?

Washington's tree Question: In honor of George Washington’s birthday, we ask: Outside of which building on the Danforth Campus can you find a tulip poplar tree directly descended from one of Washington’s trees, originally found on his Mount Vernon estate?
Answer: D) A descendant of a tree Washington planted on his estate in Virginia now grows just north of Ridgley Hall. In the early 1990s, 60 seedlings descended from Washington’s trees were sent to presidential sites and Washington namesakes around the country.
Congrats to this week’s winner, Judy Sivia, who works in Alumni & Development and will receive an “I Knew WashU” luggage tag!
