University to celebrate King’s legacy Monday

A passionate advocate for college access, Leah Merrifield will receive the university’s 2017 Rosa L. Parks Award at the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in Graham Chapel. The School of Medicine and Brown School also hold events Monday.

Stephens appointed university librarian

Denise Stephens, university librarian at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has been appointed university librarian at Washington University, effective July 1, according to Provost Holden Thorp. Stephens succeeds Jeffrey G. Trzeciak.

Neighborhood clinic marks anniversary

Under the leadership of Will Ross, MD, the Saturday Neighborhood Health Clinic has provided a valuable community service and served as an incubator for mentoring students. The clinic celebrated its 20th anniversary this week.
