Danforth Dialogues explore future of religion and politics Saturday

“Envisioning the Future of Religion and Politics in America” will be the focus as the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics welcomes national media Krista Tippett, David Brooks and E.J. Dionne Jr. for a dialogue Saturday, Oct. 8, in Graham Chapel.

Gordon receives Beering Award

Jeffrey I. Gordon, MD, of the School of Medicine, has been honored with the Steven C. Beering Award for his seminal contributions to establishing the field of human microbiome research. His research has shown a vital relationship between gut microbes and health.

Clydesdales to parade through campus

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will help kick off the weekend of campus fun leading up to the presidential debate Sunday, Oct. 9. They will parade at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 7, departing from Brookings Hall.

If food choices decided the debate

Who doesn’t love food? Campus food service Bon Appetit and the university chapter of Spoon University have debate-themed food choices for students throughout this week.

Question: Before this year, how many times has Washington University prepared for hosting a presidential debate?
Answer: C) The university prepared to host a debate for the first time in 1992, between Bill Clinton, George Bush and Ross Perot (pictured), and again in 1996, 2000 and 2004. The 1996 debate was canceled, and we also hosted a vice presidential debate in 2008.
