Assembly Series fall programs explore social justice, science

This fall, the Assembly Series — the university’s signature lecture series — includes several speakers who work toward advancing social justice. Van Jones, activist and former environmental adviser to President Barack Obama, leads off on Monday, Sept. 12.

Acetaminophen does not worsen children’s asthma symptoms

A new study in young children with asthma — co-authored by the School of Medicine’s Leonard B. Bacharier, MD — compared acetaminophen with ibuprofen. It showed no difference in the severity of asthma symptoms between the two medications.

Helping low-income smokers quit

The Brown School’s Health Communication Research Laboratory received a five-year, $2.6 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Cancer Institute to study ways to help low-income smokers quit.
