Harvard leader appointed dean of Center for Diversity and Inclusion

Emelyn dela Peña has been appointed associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of the university’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion, effective Oct. 31. She is a member of Harvard College’s senior staff, advising on equity and inclusion issues.

TechShop to open, with benefits for university students, employees

TechShop, the first international do-it-yourself workshop, is opening a new shop this month in the Cortex Innovation Community. The university has a partnership with TechShop that includes discounted memberships for faculty, staff and students.

Elfenbein installed as Wallace Distinguished Professor

Hillary Anger Elfenbein, professor of organizational behavior in Olin Business School, has been installed as the John K. and Ellen A. Wallace Distinguished Professor.

University to host Alan Alda science workshops

The university will host a four-day symposium Sept. 26-29, “Communicating Science 2016.” The event, to be held on the Medical Campus, is geared toward helping scientists effectively share news of their work.
