The Class of 2020, which moved on to campus Thursday, was chosen from 29,200 applicants and represents the largest — and most diverse — in the university’s 163-year history. About 13 percent are Pell grant-eligible.

University researchers ShiNung Ching, of the School of Engineering & Applied Science, and Terrance Kummer, of the School of Medicine, received a two-year, $403,625 grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a new method for determining the state of the brain in coma patients.
