High-fructose diet during pregnancy may harm baby

Consuming a high-fructose diet during pregnancy may cause defects in the placenta and restrict fetal growth, School of Medicine researchers have found in mice and people. But a drug used to treat gout and kidney stones may mitigate the negative effects.

Middle-schoolers learn about classic heroes, monsters

Classics faculty and students from Arts & Sciences spent time teaching middle-schoolers at KIPP Triumph Academy about the figures of Greek and Roman mythology. It’s one of many ways the university is enriching experiences for St. Louis students.

Fair Saint Louis​ will again be held in Forest Park, running July 2-4. The university again will sponsor Fair Saint Louis by providing access to several campus parking areas during the fair, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 1.

Triumph over tragedy

Carmen Valero-Aracama and her son, LucaAudiology graduate student Carmen Valero-Aracama shifted career paths out of a desire to help her son and others who are deaf or hard of hearing. She is set to earn a doctorate in audiology from the School of Medicine this month. Read more about outstanding graduating students on the Commencement website.
