Studying hot spots of antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria most often are associated with hospitals and other health-care settings. But a new School of Medicine study indicates that chicken coops and sewage-treatment plants also are hot spots.

Marvin E. Levin, MD, a renowned endocrinologist and teacher for many years at the School of Medicine, died of complications from pneumonia April 30 in St. Louis. He was 91.
