James W. Davis, professor emeritus of political science in Arts & Sciences, a role model for faculty who was also beloved by students for decades, died April 27 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was 80.
This spring, theory-heavy geology students from Arts & Sciences went on a field trip to southeastern Spain. They joined field-trained students from Trinity College, Dublin. What they learned from each other transcended earth — and time.

Studying molecular genetics and genomics, School of Medicine doctoral student Laura VanArendonk Blanton worked to understand the connection between gut bacteria and malnutrition.
