Four simple factors can determine future poverty risk

A new poverty risk calculator, co-developed by the Brown School’s Mark Rank, can determine an individual’s risk of poverty based on four factors: race, education, marital status and age.

Medical Distinguished Faculty, Goldstein honors awarded

Several School of Medicine faculty members recently were honored with Distinguished Faculty Awards for their dedication, talent and wide-ranging achievements. Winners of the Samuel R. Goldstein Leadership Awards in Medical Student Education also were honored.

Washington University graduate students are ready to share their knowledge of the brain through a full day of demonstrations, experiments, puzzles and games. The Amazing Brain Carnival begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Saint Louis Science Center.

Urban inequality scholar on campus next week

Elijah Anderson, a Distinguished Visiting Scholar, is among the nation’s most influential experts on urban inequality and race relations. He will give an Assembly Series lecture on “The Cosmopolitan Canopy” at noon Wednesday, March 9, in Anheuser-Busch Hall.

The ninth-ranked women’s basketball team was selected to host the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship first and second rounds Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, at the Field House. The Bears will face Greenville College at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
